Why this lot is worth tasting
At 860 m, Mr. Bien’s farm is the highest Robusta farm in our partner network. He farms naturally: the TR4 trees are fed only with organic fertilisers, and grass grows between the rows to keep the soil moist and protect it from erosion. Higher altitude slows ripening, which gives the cherries more time to develop.
Processing and grading
Cherries are processed natural (dry) by 1300’S Coffee: the whole cherry is dried before the bean is hulled out. Natural processing typically gives Robusta more body and a rounder, sweeter cup than washed processing. The green beans are then sorted to screen 16–18 and graded to moisture 12.5% max, black beans 0.1% max, broken beans 0.3% max and foreign matter 0.1% max.
Who this lot is for
With 7 bags of 20 kg, this is a micro-lot. It suits small roasters looking for a limited single-farm Robusta to offer as a special release, or to try fine Robusta alongside their Arabica range. Natural Robusta works well in espresso blends, where it adds body and crema, in milk-based drinks and cold brew, and in traditional Vietnamese phin coffee and cà phê sữa đá.
Traceability
Every bag in this lot comes from one farm and one household: Gia Lai Robusta Coffee Farm of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bien. Our agronomy team supports the farm through the season, and 1300’S Coffee buys, processes, grades and delivers the lot you order.
